Porcine Coronary Artery Endothelial Cells (PCAEC) are derived from healthly, plaque free porcine coronary arteries. PCAEC is cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 12 population doublings. Arterial endothelial cells play critical roles in cardiac homeostasis. Insults to the endothelial cells have been linked to a variety of vascular diseases. Porcine artery endothelial cells have been used as a viable alternative for the study of artery endothelial function and metabolism, such as atherosclerosis1, relaxing factor synthesis2, antioxidant enzyme activities3, etc. Co-culture of the artery endothelial cells with species-matched smooth muscle cells provides an ideal model for studying the interaction between these two cell types.
