Cyto-X is a ready-for-use cell viability reagent for proliferation and cytotoxicity assays. When added to cell culture, a highly water-soluble tetrazolium salt is reduced by dehydrogenases in live cells to form an orange colored formazan product that is soluble in culture medium. The amount of formazan product is directly proportional to the enzymatic activity of dehydrogenases and the number of living cells. With its high sensitivity and low cytotoxicity, Cyto-X outperforms traditional assays using other tetrazolium salts such as MTT, XTT, MTS or WST-1.

Acetelyated (Ac), fluorescently-labeled low-density lipoprotein (LDL) binds to a receptor on the surface of vascular endothelial cells & macrophages, delivering cholesterol via endocytosis.  This simple, one-step process permits cultured cells to be identified and analyzed by fluorescence microscopy or flow cytometry, and to be isolated from mixed cell populations. Because contaminating cell types are not labeled, pure cultures of vascular endothelial cells or macrophages can be isolated from complex primary cultures using fluorescent activated cell sorting (FACS).  DiI Labeled Cells Remain Viable and can be Trypsinized.

The in vitro MTT colorimetric tetrazolium dye assay employs an NAD(P)H-dependent cellular oxidoreductase enzyme to accurately quantify cell viability. This kit measures cell metabolic activity with low background absorbance values, accurately reflecting the number of viable cells present.  Proliferation rate and cytostatic activity (shift from proliferation to quiescence) can also be assessed. Response to cytotoxic external factors can be measured by quantifying the reduction in cell viability due to apoptosis or necrosis.
