Cyto-X Cell Counting Reagent Launched by Cell Applications, Inc.
SAN DIEGO, Feb 9, 2015 -- Today, Cell Applications, Inc. launches a ready-for-use cell viability reagent for proliferation and cytotoxicity assays, particularly suited for counting notoriously finicky, sensitive primary cells.  The Cyto-X colorimetric cell counting reagent offers increased sensitivity, very low cytotoxicity and improved user friendliness, with fewer steps and less wait time.  When added to cell culture, a highly water-soluble tetrazolium salt is reduced by dehydrogenases in live cells to form an orange colored formazan product that is soluble in culture medium. The amount of formazan product is directly proportional to the enzymatic activity of dehydrogenases and the number of living cells. With its high sensitivity and low cytotoxicity, Cyto-X outperforms other traditional assays.  The Cyto-X web page shows data for Human Dermal Fibroblasts (HDF), Bovine Aortic Endothelial Cells (BAOEC), and Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC), illustrating that Cyto-X is suitable for all primary cells and cell lines.
