Description

Human CADMEC Media is formulated to support the culture of dermal microvascular endothelial cells, including CADMEC/HMVEC. These cells were trademarked by Cell Applications, Inc. over 20 years ago, when they were first offered, and CADMEC™ stands for “Cell Applications’ Dermal Microvascular Endothelial Cells”. These endothelial cells are found in the microvasculature of human skin, where they regulate vascular homeostasis and coordinate tissue–vascular communication. Functionally, dermal microvascular endothelial cells control growth-factor–dependent responses such as angiogenesis and vascular remodeling, largely through activation of VEGFR signaling pathways that drive processes including endothelial activation, proliferation, migration, and survival.

In research, Human CADMEC Media supports primary endothelial cell studies by helping maintain endothelial viability and signaling competence across cell culture conditions. This enables investigators to measure how endothelial activation pathways respond to defined stimuli and reagents, and to assess endothelial proliferation and activation-related phenotypes using human microvascular models. Because these cells sit at a key interface between circulating factors and skin tissue, CADMEC/HMVEC endothelial systems are widely used in experiments that evaluate vascular signaling and functional outputs in a human context.

Human CADMEC Media is also used for neonatal endothelial applications, including studies that profile transcriptional responses and total RNA outputs (total rna) following endothelial stimulation or pathway modulation. This is useful for pathway-focused investigations that ask how specific activation pathways downstream of VEGFR (and related receptor signaling networks) shift endothelial gene expression and cellular behavior. In addition, CADMEC/HMVEC endothelial cultures are valuable for comparing origin- or donor-specific microvascular signaling behavior, which can be leveraged to distinguish biological variability that may influence endothelial response in health and disease.

Human CADMEC Media contributes to cell applications by providing an optimized culture media approach for primary dermal microvascular endothelial cell assays. It supports standardized endothelial cell activation and proliferation studies, enabling consistent evaluation of VEGFR-driven endothelial responses and related activation pathways using relevant human primary endothelial cells.

Medium carefully optimized for the characteristics and requirements unique to Dermal Microvascular Endothelial Cells (HMVEC/CADMEC™).  Attention to detail ensures ideal cell health, viability, performance, physiology, morphology, consistency and data.  This is one of our first media products, prepared specifically for “Cell Applications Dermal Microvascular Endothelial Cells – CADMEC)

Use with:

Our CADMEC Cord Formation Medium is a proprietary medium developed to induce morphological differentiation of CADMEC in Attachment Factor Solution coated tissue culture ware in 50% confluent culture. This medium induces CADMEC to form cord-like structures in 48 hours. These differentiated cells will resume their cobblestone morphology when switched back to CADMEC Growth Medium. It is supplemented with defined components to allow angiogenesis studies on the Attachment Factor-coated tissue culture ware without the interference of undefined components in Matrigel. Available without Phenol Red (114PR-500).

Head-to-Head Comparison Peer-Reviewed Article and Video

A recent peer-reviewed article published in Histochemistry and Cell Biology performed a head-to-head comparison of 7 leading cell culture media brands. Based on their results, the authors concluded the following in the publication’s Discussion:

“Fastest colony outgrowth and most colonies occurred in Cell Applications medium.”

Details

CAI media are tested for sterility in order to confirm no bacteria, yeast or fungi contaminate the solutions.  The products undergo further quality control for correct pH, osmolality and lack of endotoxins. A panel of different bioassays affirm the media sustain a proper environment for expected cell-type-specific culture, growth, plating, karyotype, physiology, morphology, viability, population doublings, surface markers, cryopreservation, differentiation and/or induction.
Laboratory research use only (RUO). Not for human, clinical, diagnostic or veterinary use.
