Bovine Coronary Artery Smooth Muscle Cells, BCASMC

Bovine large artery smooth muscle cells are derived from tunica intima and tunica media of healthy, fibrous, plaque-free bovine coronary arteries. BCASMC are cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 16 population doublings.  Smooth muscle cells have been found in fatty streaks of early arteriosclerosis. Proliferation of the smooth muscle cells is considered a key event in the development of advanced lesions1. They are an economical alternative suitable for investigations in cardiac disease and arteriosclerosis1-3, especially in co-culture with species-matched bovine arterial endothelial cells.

2nd passage, >500,000 cells in Bovine Smooth Muscle Cell Basal Medium containing 10% FBS & 10% DMSO.

Ampoule of cryopreserved BCASMC(B350-05), 500 ml Bovine Smooth Muscle Cell Growth Medium (B311-500), and a Subculture Reagent Kit (090K).
Proliferating Cells:
 
Shipped in Bovine Smooth Muscle Cell Growth Medium at 3rd passage in either flasks or multiwell dishes.
Population doublings:
Can be cultured at least 16 doublings
