Rat Skeletal Muscle Cells (RSkMC) are isolated from the skeletal muscle of the rat limb. They are cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated for at least 15 population doublings. Muscle diseases can occur in rats with clinical presentations resembling human disorders, and thus the rat system can be a valuable intermediate disease model1,2,3. ATP concentration and hypoxia have been studied in rat skeletal muscle4,5.
