Rheumatoid Arthritis Synoviocytes, HFLS-RA

Human Fibroblast-Like Synoviocytes-Rheumatoid Arthritis (HFLS-RA) are isolated from synovial tissues obtained from patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). They are cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 5 population doublings. HFLS are long known for their role in joint destruction by producing cytokines and metalloproteinases that contribute to cartilage degradation1,2. Proinflammatory cytokines induce the proliferation, collagenase and aggrecanase production and GM-CSF secretion on HFLS3, 4. Ongoing arthritis research also has shown that HFLS express apoptosis and P53 mutations5, 6. We provide two types of HFLS that are useful cellular models for studying the differences between HFLS-RA and HFLS-OA, such as the expression and regulation of proteases7 and integrin subunits8.

Characterization:  Fibroblast-Like cell morphology.
 
Each lot tested negative for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, fungi.

Cryopreserved ampoule:
2nd passage, >500,000 cells in Basal Medium containing 10% FBS & 10% DMSO.
Kit contains:
Ampoule of cryopreserved HFLS-RA (408RA-05a), 500 ml of Synoviocyte Growth Medium (415-500), and a Subculture Reagent Kit (090K).
Proliferating Cells:
 
Shipped in Growth Medium at 3rd passage in either flasks or multiwell dishes.
Population doublings:
Can be cultured at least 5 doublings
