Chicken Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells (CAOSMC) are primary cells derived from fibrous-plaque-free thoracic aorta of adult chicken. They are cryopreserved at second passage and can be propagated at least 12 population doublings. CAOSMC may be used for the investigation of atherosclerosis 1 and acute vascular injury. They have been used for studying smooth muscle cell proliferation, hypertrophy, and secretion of extracellular matrix components2,3.
