Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells

(HUVEC)

Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) are isolated from normal human umbilical vein. They are cryopreserved at the end of primary culture and can be cultured and propagated at least 16 population doublings. HUVEC are responsive to cytokine stimulation in the expression of cell adhesion molecules. These cell systems are commonly used for physiological and pharmacological investigations, such as macromolecule transport1, blood coagulation2, and fibrinolysis3.

Characterization: 

Positive for factor VIII-related antigen expression. Positive for DiI-Ac-LDL uptake.

 

 

 

Each lot tested negative for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C and negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, fungi.

 

We have special lots that were verified to be responsive to VEGF. Please call to discuss how these lots can meet your needs. The activation of VEGF-R2 was validated by autophosphorylation at tyrosine 1175. VEGF-R2 is a high affinity receptor for VEGF, which stimulates proliferation, chemotaxis and sprouting of endothelial cells in vitro and angiogenesis in vivo via VEGF-R2 signaling pathway.
