Human Subclavian Artery Endothelial Cells
(HScAEC
) are derived from normal human subclavian arteries. They are cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 10 population doublings.
The shape and orientation of
HScAEC
was found to be strongly affected by blood flow conditions1. Autologous leukocyte adhesion to normal and pathologically altered subclavian arteries
ex vivo
was explored2. The effect of prolonged treatment with r-hirudin after angioplasty of the subclavian artery was evaluated in rabbits3, whereas rabbit ScAEC was used to study
the effects of dietary and genetically induced hypercholesterolaemia on the vasodilator and antiaggregatory capacity of the endothelium 4.
