Canine Chondrocytes (CnC)
Canine Chondrocytes (CnC) are isolated from normal canine articular cartilage. They are cryopreserved at first passage and can be cultured and propagated at least 10 population doublings. CnC cultured in agarose 3-D constructs of osteoarthritis (OA) model were used to test the effect of carpofen and dexamethasone¹. Porous gene-supplemented collagen-glycosaminoglycan (GSCG) matrices were fabricated to provide sustained release of plasmid DNA carrying therapeutic gene to articular chondrocytes². Autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) in a canine model was evaluated in terms of change in composition of reparative tissue with time³. Cultured autologous chondrocytes were used in treating articular cartilage defects as compared with microfracture, a type-II collagen matrix⁴. Dvorak, L.D. et al, Am. J. Vet.
