Anti-AurkB
specifically detects endogenous AurkB protein. The molecular
weight of AurkB is 41 kDa. Anti-AurkB reacts with human,
mouse, & rat AurkB. Anti-AurkB does not cross-react with
other Aurora Kinase family proteins.

Background:
Chromosomal
segregation during mitosis as well as meiosis is regulated by kinases
and phosphatases. The Aurora kinases associate with microtubules during
chromosome movement and segregation. Aurora kinase B (AurkB) localizes
to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically to the specialized
microtubules called K-fibers. AurkB functions in the attachment of the
mitotic spindle to the centromere1. In cancerous cells, over
expression of these enzymes cause unequal distribution of genetic
information creating aneuploidy cells, a hallmark of cancer. Thus, AurkB
is emerging as a novel drug target for cancer treatment2, 3.
